Tips for Docks and Spookers
Spook the Lake this year will be Saturday, October 15, 2022, from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm.
Afterward, join us for the AFTERSPOOK at Trident Marina from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
Tips for Docks
- Dock numbers on the map MAY change up to the day of the event as some cancel and Event Partners are added. So, on the day of the event, create a sign that has your dock number on it so it can be seen by boaters who take pics.Â
- Boaters will vote for their favorite docks and you may win a STL award! So make sure they can see your dock number.
- Have someone to help guide boats in and out.
- Kids and anyone on your dock that are not strong swimmers must wear a life vest.
- Decorate your dock so that boats can find you easier.
- Don’t wear any costume inhibiting your mobility should you fall in the water.
- Take pics of every boatload so you can share your favorites.
- Make sure you have your water and snacks because you may not get a chance to go back to the house. Stay hydrated.
- Using a net with a long pole makes it easier to give treats to boaters. Plus, it keeps the boats moving instead of mooring.Â
- Always plan for more Spookers especially if you are on a main channel.
- Be sure to post your pics to facebook.com/spookthelake
Tips for Spookers
- Docks will vote for their favorite spookers and you may win a STL award! So make sure they can see your info. So, if you want to be nominated for an award, make a sign that can be seen clearly by the docks. They will be voting on your boatload as a whole so your sign should be something like: “Bob Smith’s Creepy Crawlers” or something. It’s up to you! Just try to make it unique.
- Start where you are. Visit as many or as few docks as you want to.Â
- Try to visit our Event Partner Docks on the map and show them some love and appreciation.
- Kids and anyone on your boat that are not strong swimmers must wear a life vest.
- Don’t wear any costume inhibiting your mobility should you fall in the water.
- Take pics of every dock so you can share your favorites.Â
- Bring snacks and water and stay hydrated.
- Be sure to have a CLOSEABLE trash container to keep trash from blowing into the lake.
- Decorate your boat but make sure you do not obstruct your captain’s visibility.
- IT’S NOT A RACE! So, take your time, enjoy the lake, enjoy your family, and enjoy Spook the Lake!
- Be sure to give a big thanks to the docks for all their efforts and generosity!
- Be sure to post your pics to facebook.com/spookthelake
